ScrollCue Pro layers your live camera or screen share behind the scrolling script. Read with your face in frame, just like a real broadcast prompter.
How camera background works
ScrollCue Pro composites your live camera feed or screen share directly behind the scrolling script. Your face and background stay visible while the text overlays on top — the same approach used by broadcast teleprompter rigs, in a single browser tab.
You control the text opacity so the script is readable without obscuring your face. Most creators use 80–90% text opacity with the column narrowed to keep the script away from the centre of the frame.
Camera mode
- Live camera feed behind the scrolling script
- Adjustable text opacity
- Narrow column keeps script away from your face
- Works with any connected webcam or built-in camera
- Recording captures camera and audio — not the script overlay
Screen share mode
- Share any window or tab as the background
- Script overlays on top of your demo or slides
- Useful for software walkthroughs and product demos
- Recording captures the screen share — not the overlay text
Tips for best results
Narrow the column width
Set column width to 55–65% so the script sits to one side of your face rather than over it. This makes the overlay readable without obscuring your expressions.
Increase contrast
Use a light script colour on a dark background, or vice versa, for the best readability against your camera feed. The default high-contrast setting works for most environments.
Use voice scroll
With camera background enabled you cannot easily glance at controls without it showing. Voice scroll keeps your hands free and your eyes forward.
Check your lighting
A well-lit face makes the text overlay easier to read and the composition look more intentional. Avoid windows directly behind you — they blow out the background and make the script hard to see.
Frequently asked questions
Does the script appear in recordings with camera background enabled?
No. Recordings capture your camera feed and audio only. The script overlay is visible on your display but is never included in the recorded output.
Can I use camera background with the Zoom overlay?
Yes. Enable camera background in ScrollCue and then select ScrollCue Virtual Camera in Zoom. Participants see your camera feed as normal — the script overlay is only on your screen.
Is camera background available on all devices?
Camera background requires Chrome on desktop. It is not available on mobile browsers due to compositing API limitations on iOS and Android.
