ScrollCue Pro renders your script as a transparent overlay on your camera feed. Participants see your background as normal. Works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, and Webex.
How the overlay works
ScrollCue Pro renders your script as a transparent layer over your camera feed and presents the result as a virtual camera source. In Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams, select ScrollCue Virtual Camera from your video settings. Participants see your background and face as normal — the scrolling script is only visible on your screen.
Everything runs in Chrome on your computer. No additional software, no OBS, no virtual camera driver to install.
Setup in 3 steps
- 1
Open ScrollCue Pro in Chrome
The overlay requires Chrome on desktop — not Safari, not Firefox. Enable the Zoom overlay in the Pro settings panel and allow camera access.
- 2
Select ScrollCue Virtual Camera in your video app
In Zoom, go to Video Settings and select ScrollCue Virtual Camera from the camera dropdown. In Google Meet, click the three-dot menu and select Change camera. The process is identical for Teams and Webex.
- 3
Start your call and enable voice scroll
Once on the call, enable voice scroll so the script tracks your speaking pace hands-free. You can adjust font size and scroll speed during the call using the QR remote or keyboard shortcuts.
Script tips for video calls
Write for interruptions
Zoom calls are not YouTube videos. Structure your script as key sentences at transition points, not word-for-word dialogue. Use section jumping if someone asks a question mid-presentation.
Keep sentences under 12 words
Shorter sentences are easier to deliver naturally on video. They also give you natural pause points where participants can respond.
Use presenter notes for stats
Add data points as presenter notes rather than scripted sentences. Notes float above the text and disappear when you move past that section.
Slow down 10%
People speak faster on video calls due to nerves. Deliberately slow your pace — voice scroll will hold position when you pause, which gives the impression of confident, unhurried delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Can participants see the teleprompter script?
No. The script is rendered as a transparent overlay only on your screen. The virtual camera output that Zoom receives contains only your camera feed and background.
Does it work with Google Meet?
Yes. Select ScrollCue Virtual Camera from the camera settings in Meet. The process is the same for Teams and Webex.
Do I need OBS for the Zoom overlay?
No. ScrollCue handles the virtual camera natively in Chrome. OBS is not required.
Can I use voice scroll during a Zoom call?
Yes. Voice scroll and the Zoom overlay work simultaneously. Your microphone is used for both — Zoom picks up your audio normally while voice scroll tracks it locally.
