Quick answer

ScrollCue font controls: serif, sans, or mono. Size from 20–72px. Column width adjustment. Free feature. Tips for the right size at every reading distance.

Font size by setup

20–36px

Reading on a laptop at desk distance, or second monitor close to the camera. Comfortable for experienced presenters who can track small text easily.

40–48px

Tablet or small screen at 40–60cm. Good for screen-share recordings where the prompter is in a separate window.

48–56px

Phone at arm's length. The standard for creators using a phone below a webcam. Enough size to read without moving your eyes noticeably.

56–64px

iPad or tablet at 80–120cm from a DSLR setup. Larger text at distance means less visible eye movement.

64–72px

iPad at 1–2 metres for professional DSLR setups. Also useful for presenters with any visual difficulty at closer range.

Column width

Narrowing the column width shortens each line of text. Shorter lines mean your eye travels less distance per line, which reduces visible left-right eye movement. Set column width to 50–65% for most reading distances. Very narrow columns at large font sizes produce the most natural eye contact.

Font choice

Serif (default)

Wider letterforms with serifs aid recognition at speed. Most broadcast teleprompters use a serif face. Best for scripts read at pace.

Sans-serif

Clean and modern. Some creators prefer it for its similarity to standard document typefaces, which can make scripts easier to read if you wrote them in a sans-serif word processor.

Monospace

Equal character width aids very fast reading because the eye can predict where each character will land. Useful for ORP mode and high-speed rehearsal.

Frequently asked questions

Are font controls free?

Yes. Font face, size, and column width controls are all free with no account required.

What font size should I use on an iPhone?

Use 48–56px for a phone held at arm's length. If the phone is closer — resting on a keyboard below a laptop webcam — 44–50px usually works.

Can I change font size from the QR remote?

Yes. Font size is adjustable from the remote device in real time.
