Corporate events

## Every speaker, on cue.

Put the whole running order in one script, with a section per speaker. An operator follows from a phone at the AV desk, and the script never leaves your own devices. [See the operator workflow](https://scrollcue.com/teleprompter-for-corporate-events#operator)

## Ready for the town hall *in three steps*

1.

### One script, every speaker

Paste the running order into one script. Start each part with `## Name`, so the operator can jump straight to the next speaker.
2.

### Wire the stage screen

Open **scrollcue.com/app** on the laptop connected to the [confidence monitor](https://scrollcue.com/glossary#confidence-monitor), and set the text size from where the speakers stand.
3.

### Pair the operator

Pair a phone as the remote (Pro). The operator follows each speaker from the AV desk; the speaker just reads.

## Our take, *worked out*

One rule, one number worked out for this setup, and what we would not spend money or time on.

The rule

### Someone else drives

Executives pause, ad-lib and take questions. Give the remote to an operator at the AV desk so the speaker only has to read.

Worked out

1,300

Words in a 10-minute CEO update at 130 words per minute. Write each agenda segment to its slot: about 130 words for every minute on the agenda.

What we would skip

- A fixed [scroll speed](https://scrollcue.com/glossary#scroll-speed) for executives who take questions. Use an operator.
- Cloud script tools for unannounced numbers. Keep confidential scripts on your own devices.
- One script file per speaker. One running order with a section each is easier to jump through.

## Which setup *for which event*

Most corporate events fall into a few formats. Pick the row that matches yours.

| Event | Where the script goes | Who drives it |
|---|---|---|
| All-hands or town hall in a room | Confidence monitor at the front of the stage | An operator with a phone remote |
| Hybrid town hall (room plus stream) | Confidence monitor, or a glass rig on the stream camera | Operator; speakers read toward the camera |
| Investor or earnings update | Glass rig in front of the camera, or a screen right under it | Operator, or a fixed speed for a tightly timed read |
| Webinar from a laptop | Floating window under the webcam | The speaker, with a clicker or the phone remote |
| Recorded CEO message | Prompter behind the camera feed, recorded in ScrollCue | [Voice follow](https://scrollcue.com/glossary#voice-follow), so it moves only while they speak |
| Panel or several presenters | One script with a section per speaker | Operator jumps sections as each speaker starts |

For a stage in a large room, see the [speakers guide](https://scrollcue.com/teleprompter-for-speakers) for text size by distance and venue Wi-Fi.

## The operator *workflow*

On a corporate stage the speaker should only read. Someone else keeps the words in step.

### Who controls the teleprompter at a corporate event?

Usually an operator at the AV desk, following each speaker from a paired phone.

Pair a phone with the stage laptop by scanning the QR code. The operator gets play, pause, speed and a list of sections. Executives pause, ad-lib and take questions, so a person following them beats any fixed speed. The phone's Script tab is a synced presenter view, so the operator reads along with the speaker.

### How do you run a teleprompter for several speakers?

Give each speaker a ## section in one script and jump to the next section as they start.

Start each part with `## Name, topic`. When a speaker finishes, the operator taps the next section and the confidence monitor jumps to it. If the order changes on the day, the operator jumps out of order without editing anything.

### Private notes for speakers

Cues the audience never sees.

Put reminders in double brackets: `[[slide 4]]`, `[[pause for applause]]`, `[[hand to Priya]]`. Notes show only on the prompter, never on a recording or audience screen.

### Last-minute script changes

Edit on the stage laptop.

Legal or comms changes a line an hour before? Edit it on the stage laptop and the confidence monitor shows it at once. Tell the speaker about the change before they walk on.

## Confidential scripts *stay on your devices*

Earnings figures, reorganisations and product news should not sit on someone else's server before the announcement.

### Are teleprompter scripts stored in the cloud?

Not with ScrollCue. Scripts stay in the browser on each device, with no account.

ScrollCue keeps scripts in the browser on the device you paste them into. There is no ScrollCue account and no cloud copy of the script. When the operator's phone is paired, the phone and the prompter talk directly over your own network rather than through ScrollCue's servers. Read the [privacy policy](https://scrollcue.com/privacy) for the details.

### Works with no internet

Locked-down networks are fine.

After the first visit the prompter runs offline. On a corporate network that blocks devices from seeing each other, join the stage laptop and the operator's phone to a phone hotspot instead, or use a Bluetooth clicker, which needs no network at all.

### Clear it after the event

Leave nothing on a shared laptop.

On a shared or rented laptop, delete the script from **My scripts** after the event, or use a private browsing window so nothing is kept when it closes.

## Webinars *and hybrid events*

When the speaker presents from a laptop to Zoom, Teams or Webex, the script needs to sit under the camera and stay off the share.

### Floating window under the webcam

Stays on top of the webinar app.

In Chrome or Edge, **Float over other apps** puts the script in a small always-on-top strip. Park it right under the webcam; on a MacBook that is just under the notch. It stays put while the webinar app, slides and chat are in front.

### How do I hide my notes in a webinar?

Share only your slides window or one tab, never your entire screen.

Share your slides window or a single tab, never your entire screen. A whole-screen share would show the floating window too. The [video calls guide](https://scrollcue.com/teleprompter-for-video-calls) has the exact steps for Zoom, Teams and Google Meet.

### Audience questions beside the script

Read the Q&A without losing your place.

With Pro, choose **Window beside script** and pick the Q&A window: a Slido or Mentimeter tab, a Teams or Zoom Q&A window, or a moderator's list of questions. It shows in a panel next to the script, on the presenter's screen only.

### Hybrid: room and stream together

Eye contact for both audiences.

For a hybrid town hall, put the script on a glass rig in front of the stream camera so remote viewers get eye contact, and a confidence monitor in the room for the live audience. The glass needs mirrored text and the monitor needs normal text, so run each from its own device: a tablet in the rig with Mirror on, and the stage laptop on the monitor. See the [hardware guide](https://scrollcue.com/hardware) for rigs.

## How long is *each segment?*

Agendas are tight. Write each segment to its slot.

### How many words is a 10-minute speech?

About 1,300 words at 130 words per minute.

Business speakers reading a prepared script land around 130 to 150 words per minute. A 10-minute CEO update at 130 words per minute is about 1,300 words; a 3-minute welcome is about 400. ScrollCue's time-remaining readout shows how long is left at the current speed, so the operator can see a segment running long. More in [teleprompter numbers](https://scrollcue.com/teleprompter-numbers).

### Rehearse at speaking pace

One full run with the operator.

Run the whole agenda once with the operator at the desk and each speaker reading from the monitor. Mark where speakers ad-lib and add a `[[pause]]` note there, so the operator expects it on the day.

7 questions

## Questions, *answered*

Short answers to what people ask before they press play.

### What teleprompter do companies use for town halls?

Usually a confidence monitor at the front of the stage, driven by an operator. ScrollCue runs that from any laptop and browser, with the operator following from a phone.

### Can an operator control the teleprompter for several speakers?

Yes. Put each speaker in their own ## section of one script. The operator follows from a paired phone and jumps to the next speaker's section with one tap.

### Are our scripts uploaded anywhere?

No. Scripts stay in the browser on each device, there is no account, and a paired phone talks to the prompter directly over your own network.

### Can we use a teleprompter in a Teams or Zoom webinar?

Yes. Float the script under the webcam and share only your slides window, not the whole screen. Attendees see your slides and your face, not the script.

### Does it work on a locked-down corporate network?

Yes. The prompter works offline after the first visit. For the phone remote, use a phone hotspot if the network blocks devices from seeing each other, or use a Bluetooth clicker.

### Can we record a CEO message with it?

Yes. ScrollCue records with the camera behind the script: 720p free, 1080p on Pro with captions from the script and a clean copy with retakes and long pauses cut.

### How much does it cost for a company event?

The prompter is free with no account. Pro, which adds the phone remote, presenter view, clickers, recording in 1080p and OBS output, is $4.99 for 24 hours or $99 a year.
